Green Energy for your Home

When you switch to a green energy plan for your home and make your house more energy efficient, you can help the planet and save money. Making the choice to change to green energy is easier than ever. The Gexa Energy plans above are examples of 100% renewable plans from a top electricity company in Texas. And Gexa Energy rates are some of the cheapest.

Texas is a leading producer of green energy, and enrollment in green plans help to support our state’s economy while being eco-friendly. Currently, less than 20% of home energy is produced using green energy, but you can help to increase that number by switching today. Learn more about 100% Renewable Energy Plans by reading our articles and guides.

To make switching even more convenient, when you use Home Energy Club or Get Green Energy to compare green energy options and enroll, you can receive operator assistance from any energy provider by calling the special phone numbers on the rate panels.

Also, by enrolling in an energy plan, you don’t have to make any capital investments, like installing your own solar panels on your house. Green energy is available in all deregulated electricity states, so you can be part of the positive, eco-conscious change and switch your Texas home electricity plan over to green energy.

Benefits to Green Energy

Using green energy can help us combat climate change through our electricity choices, meaning your electricity plan. This is because conventional carbon-sourced power, like coal, oil, and natural gas, all create by-products that can harm the ecosystem. If protecting the environment is important to you, one easy way you can contribute is by making the switch to green energy for your home. Besides reducing pollution, switching to green energy can also create new jobs in Texas and help to reduce our dependence on foreign sources of energy.

When the power grid relies solely on fossil fuels, it may be increasingly vulnerable to the supply and demand of natural gas. The generation of green energy provides energy diversification and can help us support and sustain our energy needs with less risk.

One of the biggest benefits you may experience when you switch to using green energy is savings on your electric bill. Some energy providers are now offering green energy at prices that are competitive with the average price of fossil-sourced energy!

Have questions?

We love being transparent as much as we love saving you money.

  • What’s special about your energy providers?

Because our goal is for you to never worry about electricity rates and billing surprises again, the providers we select for our site offer competitive rates, proven high-quality service and transparent pricing.

  • Why should I consider a multi-year energy plan?

Choosing a multi-year plan allows you to lock in a rate at today’s prices so you don’t have to worry about rate increases for the term of your contract. This protects you against rising rates for the full term of your fixed contract. If you cancel your energy service because you are moving from your home, you will not be charged an early termination fee. See the Electricity Facts Label for each plan for more information.

  • Can I call an operator to help me enroll in any energy plan?

You bet!  The operators for each provider are ready to help you by phone at the numbers listed on each plan above.

  • If I have an outage, how long will it take for my power to be turned on with providers on this site?

Regardless of what electricity provider you choose, the same regulated transmission and distribution utility (TDU) corrects outages and maintains power lines in your area.  Providers do not correct outages and have no impact on when your lights are turned on.

  • What is an Electricity Facts Label (EFL) and why should I read it?

An Electricity Facts Label (EFL) is a government-mandated sheet that allows consumers to make apples-to-apples comparisons of energy plans. You’ll find it in the Plan Details and Sign Up sections on our site, as well as next to energy plans on all provider sites.

The average prices shown in an EFL are based on assumed monthly home usage levels of 500, 1,000 or 2,000 kWh. Provider plans are often designed to benefit homes that fall within a certain range of usage, so it’s important to select the correct plan for your home by reviewing the EFL. Selection of the correct plan based on your home’s energy usage will help you avoid bill surprises.

  • How do you protect me from plans that cause billing surprises with TrustPlan™?

Since 2011, we’ve studied the pricing structures of energy plans and developed a special system to help us weed out plans that we believe won’t meet your expectations. We call it TrustPlan™. It starts with looking under the hood of each electricity plan and examining its state-mandated Electricity Facts Label (EFL). If we determine a plan includes a gimmick that is likely to cause a billing surprise, we don’t show it on our site.

We strongly recommend that you review the EFL of plans you are considering in order to confirm they are a good fit for your home, based on your average monthly electricity usage. Selecting the correct plan is critical in preventing surprises. See our EFL guide above the FAQs on our home page.

You can use our plan filter to select plans that provide more predictable bills. And you’ll find that some electric companies offer guarantees that allow you to switch plans within a specified time period if you are unhappy with the plan you enrolled in.

  • Since your service is free, how is the site compensated?

Home Energy Club provides you with free membership forever. When you enroll in a plan, we receive a small fee from the provider so that we can offer you our valuable comparison service with no member fees. Also, to maintain our objectivity in displaying energy plans, we don’t sell preferred treatment to providers.

You should always read a plan’s EFL details to decide if it’s a fit for you, but our system does the tedious math to help you compare estimated costs. Of course, your future bill amounts will depend on your future usage.

You will find a widget on Home Energy Club which fetches your home’s energy usage data from Smart Meter Texas (SMT) and runs calculations of the rate structures of energy plans to help you conveniently estimate the cost of energy plans you are considering, based on your prior 12 months of energy usage as reported by SMT.

In one of the text panels of the widget, you will see an authorization button. By checking the permission box above the fields in which you enter your name and email address, and clicking on the authorization button, you are authorizing Smart Meter Texas to provide us with your location’s energy usage information so that our system can run cost calculations. It’s important to note that errors can occur when developing and running calculations, and the Company does not guarantee that its cost numbers are correct. You should always read the Electricity Facts Label (EFL) for each energy plan you are considering before enrolling, and make an independent decision on whether the plan is an appropriate fit for your home based on your own calculations and all the information disclosed by energy providers in the EFL.
