About Lancaster
The city of Lancaster, Texas, has roots that stretch back to 1844, when the pioneer Roderick Rawlins made the town’s first settlement. The year 1847 saw the arrival of Abram Bledsoe, who later bought a tract of land in what is present-day Lancaster. Mr. Bledsoe surveyed the townsite in 1852, naming it after his hometown of Lancaster, Kentucky, and the town became incorporated a year later.
