About Palestine

Daniel Parker was one of Palestine’s first settlers and named the region after his hometown of Palestine, Illinois. The Texas legislature officially established Palestine in 1846 and designated the town as the Anderson County seat. Throughout the years, Palestine has continued to serve as a major transportation hub because of its relationship with the Union Pacific Railroad and its proximity to central Texas. Today, the town has a population of around 18,000 and shares its rich heritage with tourists.
