About Stafford, Texas
Stafford is a town on the Western side of the Greater Houston Metro Area. The first settlement on the site was in 1830 and was a plantation belonging to William Stafford, which the town was later named for. The site was later burned by Mexican forces during the Texas War of Independence but was rebuilt. During the second half of the 19th century, the town grew, becoming a stop for two different rail lines. The city was finally incorporated in 1956 with a population of only a few hundred. The town has now grown to over 17,000 people and is home to many residential communities as well as commercial areas. Stafford is known for the fact that it has no municipal property tax.
