Energy Plans and Rates

BKV has a range of plan types for Texans, including green energy, traditional fossil fuel-sourced electricity, and fixed-rate energy plans.

Bluebonnet plans

Their Bluebonnet offerings are fixed-rate plans that have a range of term lengths, including 12, 24, and 36-month contracts.

Designed to be predictable and straightforward, these plans also include:

  • Price-protected rates
  • Some renewable energy
  • Transmission & Distribution (TDU) Fees
  • Early Termination Fees (ETFs)

BKV takes pride in providing simple, transparent plans. For that reason, they don’t include Base Charges or Usage Fees.

Like most fixed-rate plans, they do include cancellation fees, or ETFs, but they’re very reasonable. They typically charge $20 per month left in your contract. Plus, there’s no cancellation fee during the first 30 days .

Green Energy Plans

BKV offers 100% green energy plans, also referred to as renewable energy.

Part of their efforts to create net-zero energy solutions, these renewable energy plans are clean alternatives to conventional electricity sources.

They’re called their Bluebonnet Green plans, and they have all the same great features of their traditional Bluebonnet plans, except the energy is 100% clean.

Plus, they’re also competitively priced, offering sustainable energy sources to help Texans go green while saving money.

Requirements for Signing up

Signing up for a BKV Energy plan is convenient and can be done through their website or by contacting them via telephone.

As with many electricity service providers, you’ll be required to provide identification to verify your account holder status.

They may also require a deposit, depending on your credit score. If you want prepaid energy, check out our no-deposit companies page.

To make an informed decision and select the most suitable energy plan for your home, be sure to compare electricity rates in Texas.

BKV Energy Pay Bill

Wondering how to pay your BKV energy bill? BKV makes it easy and convenient to get your bill paid on time.

You can pay online or over the phone. Plus, you can easily manage your account through your BKV Energy login page.

You can also pay by mail using the return envelope provided in your monthly bill, or set up payments through your bank .

Switching, Moving, and Cancellation Fees

When you’re in the middle of a move, it’s essential to pick an energy plan that suits the power requirements of your new place. And Texas has hundreds of energy providers, making it challenging to pick a new electric company.

For quick tips on energy shopping, check out our Savvy Shopper’s Guide.

But first, start out with the Texas Electricity Facts Label (EFL) guide.

It’s a dependable resource to assist you in pinpointing the ideal energy plan tailored to your preferences. The EFL will help you get a true apples-to-apples comparison of power companies and the rates they offer.

Transferring your energy plans

If you’re moving to another deregulated area in Texas, BKV can easily transfer your service to your new address.

To ensure a seamless transition of your BKV plan, it’s crucial to inform them of your new residence details at least 30 days in advance. This should help you avoid any lapse in service.

How do I cancel BKV Energy?

Like most electric companies, BKV does charge an Early Termination Fee, or ETF, when you cancel your plan before the contract is over. Be sure to check your plan’s EFL to determine its exact cancellation fee.

Typically, their fees are $20 per month left in your contract.

If you do discontinue your service, you can research discounted rates provided by other reputable electricity providers through Home Energy Club.
