Plans and Rates
SoFed offers competitive rates on straightforward, fixed-rate plans with a range of term lengths, from 12 to 48 months.
They also offer variable-rate, month-to-month plans, for Texans who don’t want to be tied down to a contract.
Their price-protected plans feature affordable rates, as well as Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) fees, Early Termination Fees (ETFs), and a Base Charge.
Southern Federal also offers same-day service on some of their plans, although this service can’t be guaranteed.
Solar buyback plans
Have solar panels installed? Consider SoFed’s solar buyback plans.
These plans provide a fair buyback rate for your excess solar power generated, as well as a very competitive rate for the kWh you use while on grid power.
They also feature the same Base Charge, Early Termination Fee, and Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) fees. These solar buyback plans also include term lengths of 12 or 48 months.
Note that none of their plans are 100% renewable energy. If you want to go green, Gexa Energy offers some of the cheapest rates on clean electricity .

Bill Pay
Easily pay your bill by accessing your account through the Southern Federal Power login page. Accepted payment methods include debit and credit cards.
Like most providers, they also may accept payments by mail, as well as electronic check.
Moving, Switching, Cancellation Fees
When you’re moving, it’s important to find an energy plan that suits the power requirements for your new home.
Navigating the many energy suppliers in Texas for the best rates can be overwhelming. That said, you can rely on our Texas Electricity Facts Label (EFL) guide to help you determine the ideal energy plan for your needs.
The EFL provides an apples-to-apples comparison of rates and plan structures. In short, it’s the key to finding the best plan for your needs, as well as avoiding gimmicky plans that cause bill surprises.
Transferring your electricity plan
Moving to another deregulated city in Texas? You can seamlessly transfer your Southern Federal plan to your new address by providing them with your updated address information.
We recommend submitting your address change request at least 30 days before your move to allow sufficient time for processing the updated information.
How do I cancel my electricity plan?
If you discontinue your Southern Federal Power service, you can cancel by contacting customer service online or over the phone.
You can also research discounted rates from other leading electricity companies right here at Home Energy Club. We can help you search providers and plans, find the best fit for you, and enroll in a new plan, all without membership fees. After that, your new provider will handle canceling your old plan for you.
Note that if you cancel a fixed-rate plan before the contract’s end date, you may owe an ETF. SoFed typically charges a $249 ETF, but be sure to double check your plan’s EFL to determine the precise fee you might owe.
Who to Call for Power Outages
In case of a power outage, please contact the Transmission Distribution Utility (TDU or TDSP) responsible for your service area.
TDUs maintain power lines and repair power outages. As a Retail Energy Provider (REP), Southern Federal Power can’t repair electrical outages.
