Veteran Energy Plans

Veteran Energy offers a variety of fixed-rate electric plans for your home, so you can lock in rates for the term of your contract and get more predictable bills.

Valor plans

Their most popular plans are their Valor energy plans, price-protected plans that come in a range of terms, including 12, 18, and 24-month contract lengths.

They even offer a Valor 36, which is a three-year fixed-rate energy plan.

With monthly bill credits, these are their cheapest plans. They can help you save money if your home’s energy usage level falls within a preset number of kWhs.

Other key features of these plans include:

  • Competitive rates per kWh
  • $50 bill credit for set usage ranges
  • $0 base charges
  • Early Termination Fees (ETFs) of $20 per month left in contract

In the past, they’ve offered shorter term contracts, including 4, 6, 8, and 10 months. That said, their current terms are from 12 months to three years.

Secure plans

They also offer their Secure plans, which come with slightly higher rates but don’t require bill credits to get their best prices.

These plans have 12 or 24-month terms with the same ETF as above.

Smart Thermostat plans

There’s also their Smart Thermostat plans, which have competitive rates and include a Honeywell T9 Smart Thermostat.

A Smart Thermostat can adapt to how you use your AC unit to net you energy savings. By doing so, this advanced thermostat can help lower your electricity bill. They often provide remote access through your phone.

Look closely at rates for these plans, as they may be slightly higher than those without these features.

Renewable Energy

Veteran Energy offers Texans the opportunity to convert any of their plans into green energy for only an additional $6.95 per month.

You can start or stop the green energy element of your plan at any time.

Starting Service

You can start your energy service online or over the phone at 833-913-3426.

Some electric companies in Texas may require new customers to make an initial deposit if you do not meet their credit criteria.

Switching, Moving, and Cancellation Fees

Whether you’re moving into a new home, switching plans (or suppliers), or canceling your plan, reading the Texas Electricity Facts Label (EFL) is crucial.

First things first: the EFL

If you’re switching plans, make sure you review the Texas Electricity Fact Label (EFL) for the new plans you’re considering.

This will help you compare plans and prevent unnecessary billing surprises.

Knowing your home’s historic energy usage is also helpful. Consult your Smart Meter Texas data for accurate usage info. And for quick tips on mastering the Smart Meter, check out our Smart Meter Texas guide.

Transferring your plan

If you’re moving and want to keep your energy service, you can transfer your service to your new home free of charge. All you need to do is contact the supplier at 833-913-3426. Make sure to call at least 30 days in advance.

How to cancel your Veteran energy plan

You can easily cancel your electricity service over the phone.

Note that if you cancel your plan before the end of your contract, you may be responsible for an Early Termination Fee (ETF), also called a cancellation fee.

They typically charge $20 per month remaining in your contract, but check your plan’s EFL to determine its exact ETF.

Reporting a Power Outage

If you have a loss of power, contact your area’s Transmission and Distribution Utility company, not the energy supplier.
