Spark Energy Plans and Rates
Spark Energy offers electricity rates in Texas, but many of its plans include complex features that can lead to unexpected bills.
When our team inquired about plan options in Dallas and Houston, the Choice 12 plan was the only plan option that populated, which is a fixed-rate energy plan. Here are the details of that plan
Plan | Rate in Dallas | Rate in Houston | Term Length | Plan Details |
---|---|---|---|---|
Choice 12 | 16.10 ¢ per kWh | 16.26 ¢ per kWh | 12 months | Fixed-Rate ETF: $100 |
The prices above reflect Spark Energy rates at 2,000 kwh usage. Rates are accurate as of February 2025.
While some plans include renewable energy, none are 100% renewable. For Spark Energy’s free electricity plans, be sure to review the Electricity Facts Label (EFL) carefully, as non-free hours typically run higher.
Watch for High Base Charges Some Spark Energy plans offset low advertised rates with base charges ranging from $160 to more than $400 monthly. These plans may work for high-usage homes but could result in rates up to 85 cents per kilowatt-hour for smaller residences.
Note: Deposits are typically waived for customers meeting credit requirements. Prepaid plans offer a no-deposit alternative.
