Renewable Energy and Solar Power

Chariot Energy provides 100% renewable energy for Texans who want green energy that’s competitively priced with traditional fossil-sourced energy.

Chariot has an advantage because it is owned by the Hanwha Group, a major clean energy generation company that installs utility-scale solar generation plants around the world and owns utility-scale solar facilities near Midland, Texas.

You can simply enroll online or by phone in a solar energy plan, and you won’t need to install costly solar panels or incur any other upfront costs. Solar panels at solar farms such as those owned by Hanwha Group absorb sunlight and convert it to a usable current, which is served into the grid and then to homes.

When you enroll in a solar buyback plan from Chariot, they purchase and retire renewable energy certificates (RECs) to offset traditional fossil-sourced energy usage. They also offer “no deposit electricity” for clean energy if you meet their credit standards.

If you’re concerned about pollution, you might consider Chariot’s solar power electricity. Solar power buyback plans can help you save money while reducing the amount of CO2 your residential energy produces.

To get an idea of the amount of carbon pollution (CO2) produced by fossil-sourced energy in Texas, see our infographic on how much CO2 your home energy plan produces.

Switching, Moving In, Moving Out, and Cancellation Fees

Before switching to or canceling your Chariot energy plan, be sure to read the Electricity Fact Label (EFL) for the plan. The EFL includes the rate you’ll pay once you enroll in the plan and the Early Termination Fee you’ll pay if you cancel service before the end of the plan’s term.

Here’s information you’ll find in each EFL:

  • Average price per kWh
  • Base, energy, and TDU charges
  • Type of product (fixed or variable rate)
  • Contract term length
  • Early termination fees
  • Renewable energy content

Avoiding Early Termination Fees (ETF)

You can often avoid paying an ETF if you wait until 14 days or less before the end date or if you’re moving from your current home. You may be required to provide proof that you’re moving.

Transferring Chariot Energy Electricity Service

If you’re moving to a new area that falls within their service area, you may wish to transfer your Chariot Energy service to your new address.

If you’re planning on transferring your service to your new location, be sure to call an operator at least 30 days in advance to ensure a smooth transition from your current residence to your new location.
