Amigo has residential and business electricity rates, flexible contracts, and personalized electricity plans, and gives you the power to choose the type of plan that fits your budget. You’ll find energy plan terms ranging from partial year terms to 12, 24 and 36-month terms, and both fossil-sourced and green energy plans.
For a number of years, Amigo did not have the best electricity rates in Texas, but we recommend that you give them a fresh look. Their rates are more competitive now and there is peace of mind in knowing that you’ll receive your energy from a well established brand.
Amigo Energy provides same day service if you call before 2 pm. They have an Amigo app for you to monitor your account or make changes.
Amigo Energy Electricity Rates in Texas & Plans List
Amigo categorizes its energy plans in 6 categories: Bargain Hunter, Night Owl, Screen Addict, Homebody, Nature Lover, and Professional. Each category of plan offers a different plan type. Amigo’s customers range from homeowners to renters of apartments and condos, to mobile home owners, and they provide energy plans targeted to these various lifestyles.
Listed in the Bargain Hunter category is the Truly Fixed Plan, the Assurance Plan, and the Basics Plan. Customers can also add the following onto their plans: Just Green (renewable energy credits), ecobee Smart Thermostat, and Energy Saving Home Accessories.
Amigo Energy has a plan with “free electricity” periods (such as free nights). Generally, we recommend that customers beware of these types of plans, as the average energy rate per kWh you’ll pay is often much higher than in regular plans. However, Amigo’s “free energy” plans are more consumer friendly based on the average rates displayed in the Electricity Fact Labels (EFLs) associated with these plans. Be sure to check the EFLs for each plan to view the average rate you’ll pay at various usage levels, and make certain that the usage assumptions in the EFL apply to your usage patterns.
Are you looking for a pay-as-you-go prepaid electricity plan which provides no deposit electricity? Amigo Energy offers no deposit electricity, but it’s solely for residents who pass their credit check, and they don’t offer “no credit check” plans. If you have been searching online for no credit check apartments in Texas, you are likely looking for a no deposit energy plan from a light company in Texas that doesn’t check credit for their prepaid energy plans.
Renewable Energy (Green Energy) Plans
Amigo Energy offers renewable energy plans that help to cut carbon emissions and combat climate change. Traditional fossil-sourced electricity plans in Texas are responsible for a surprising amount of CO2 entering the environment.
Texas electricity can be generated through solar panels that transform the sun’s energy into electricity and sent into the grid. Wind power uses wind turbines to do the same. Amigo charges an extra $10 per month for its 100% green energy plans.
