Many Texans experience electricity pricing that changes frequently. This is because rates are impacted by volatile commodity pricing of natural gas and also by increased residential energy demand caused by the extreme weather we often have.
Amigo Energy Reviews & Ratings
At Home Energy Club, we gather unbiased Amigo Energy Reviews from independent review sites (such as Amigo’s Yelp page and Google), the Better Business Bureau, the State of Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC) Complaints Statistics and other review sources.

Amigo Energy Rates & Plans in Texas
At Home Energy Club, we don’t list current Amigo electric rates. We continuously review providers to help you choose the best plans in Texas and update our recommendations.
Electricity plans from Amigo are reasonably priced and include fixed-rate plans and “free electricity” periods, like their “Nights Free Plan”.
Amigo Nights Free Plan
Amigo offers a free nights plan with reasonable time periods for complimentary energy usage. According to their website, not only do you get nights free, you’ll also enjoy 70 kWh of free electricity on a weekly basis.
Generally, we recommend that customers beware of “free electricity” plans, as the average energy rate per kWh you’ll pay is often much higher than in regular plans. However, Amigo’s “free energy” plans are more consumer-friendly based on the average rates displayed in the Electricity Fact Labels (EFLs) compared with similar plans from other providers.
That said, be sure to review the Electricity Facts Label (EFL) to find the exact times when your energy will be free. For example, some Amigo plans only offer “free” energy from 9pm to 7am. Using a lot of electricity outside of that window could land you with a serious bill surprise.
No Deposit Electricity
They also offer no deposit electricity, but it’s solely for residents who pass their credit check. They don’t offer “no credit check” plans.
If you’re searching online for no credit check apartment plans in Texas, you may want to enroll in a prepaid, pay-as-you-go, no deposit energy plan. Many Texans find this to be the best option for their budget and lifestyle.
Amigo Renewable Energy Plans
If you’re looking for renewable energy, Amigo may be a good choice for you. They offer green plans to cut carbon emissions and combat climate change. You can pay an extra $9.99 a month for 100% green energy.
One of the ways they do this is through the use of renewable energy credits, or RECs, that you can purchase, enabling you to offset up to 100% of your residential electricity usage.
Did you know that traditional fossil-sourced electricity in Texas is responsible for a surprising amount of CO2 entering the environment?
