Due to the volatile prices of natural gas and the high demand caused by the extreme weather we have been getting, Texas energy rates are changing more frequently.

Stream Energy Electricity Plans

Stream Energy’s Texas plans include a number of one-year and multi-year fixed Texas electricity rates, as well as variable rates that can change monthly. While Stream is not the cheapest light company and does not have the best electricity rates, its Stream Energy rates are easy to understand and don’t include the types of gimmicks that cause billing surprises. It is one of the more stable light companies in Texas. Call the Stream Energy number at 1-888-685-7693.

Stream’s energy rates are competitive with the big brand expensive light companies in Texas, but not with the low rate energy companies such as Gexa Energy, TriEagle Energy, Pulse Power, Cirro Energy, and others. You can review Stream Energy Houston rates and Stream Energy Dallas rates on their website, and to make quick comparisons of Stream Energy plans with plans from the cheapest electric companies in Texas, use our handy Texas electricity rates chart, which you’ll find on our home page in the filter section (click on the “Compare Plans” button).

Prepaid No Deposit Plans and No Credit Check Plans

Are you looking for a no deposit plan with no cancellation fees? While Stream doesn’t have these types of plans, its sister company, Reliant Energy, has “pay as you go” prepaid electricity plans, which include no deposit electricity, no credit check and instant approval. Call Reliant at 833-339-0416 to ask about their no deposit plans and also their month-to-month variable rate plans with no cancellation fees. If you have been searching the web for no credit check apartments in Texas, you may wish to consider a no deposit energy plan.

Free Electricity

If you are looking for free electricity usage plans, Stream is not one of the electricity companies in Texas offering these plans, but  Reliant Energy has a “Truly Free Nights & Truly Free Weekends” plan you may wish to review. Always review the Electricity Fact Label for each plan to confirm that the average rate you’ll pay for “free” electricity plans is a competitive rate.

Promo codes can cut your energy rate in only a few minutes, so check our page featuring exclusive Texas electricity promo codes to see if a Stream Energy promo code is available.

About Stream Energy

Stream Energy is a Texas electric company servicing more than 600,000 residential customer equivalents, and offers fixed Stream energy rates and variable rate plans, as well as green energy plans. Since its founding in 2005, Stream has expanded into other services, including wireless and home services. Stream offers energy plans in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Washington D.C., Illinois, Delaware, Texas, and Ohio. Stream tries to make switching easier with their EZ Start and EZPay programs, and they have a free Stream Connect App for added convenience.

Stream has grown the company through a combination of its multi-level marketing (MLM) program and traditional marketing. In 2019, NRG acquired a portion of the company that was not MLM. NRG is the parent company of Reliant Energy, Cirro Energy and other major electric companies in Texas.

Stream electricity rates in Texas are straight-forward and produce relatively predictable energy bills, but the company does not offer low Stream Energy Texas rates. As part of your power to choose energy providers and plans in Texas, you can select how your electricity is produced, and Stream offers renewable energy plans (also known as green energy plans) sourced from Texas solar and wind energy.

Stream Energy Business Information

Stream Energy’s headquarters in Texas are located in:

2745 Dallas Pkwy Suite 200, Plano, TX 75093

You can reach their corporate headquarters at the Stream Energy phone number +1-888-685-7693

If you want to sign up for a plan you can either enroll online or call Stream.

Stream Renewable Energy (Green Energy) Plans

Stream Green is a renewable energy program created by Stream Energy. It includes any Stream electricity plan that is sourced from renewable energy. The Stream Green Certification of a plan is a confirmation that Stream purchased Renewable Energy Credits under that State of Texas program, and that clean energy generated from renewable sources was added to the Texas electric grid on behalf of Stream customers who purchased their “eco+” add-on or enrolled in a Stream Green energy plan.

Stream’s Texas renewable energy plans are sourced from solar and wind energy, and sometimes other renewable sources. Would you like to cut your personal carbon emissions with a green energy plan to help combat climate change? You can now cut your electricity bill with a cheap green energy rate from major energy providers that have some of the best energy rates in Texas for green plans. For one-stop shopping on green plans from top electric companies, enter your zip code and home size in the box in the upper right corner of this page, or go to a comparison site that offers green energy plans for less than fossil-sourced plans.

With solar energy plans from Stream or other discount energy providers, you don’t install rooftop solar panels, which are expensive and will become obsolete as technology advances. Large solar and wind farms in Texas collect solar energy and wind energy and convert it into electrical energy which is then sent to the grid and powers your home.

Requirements to Start Stream Energy Service

Switching, Moving In, Moving Out, and Cancellation

If you are looking to switch, finding the best energy provider with the cheapest electricity rates in Texas can be challenging. It’s important that you examine the Electricity Fact Label (EFL) connected with each plan, which will ensure that the one you choose is the correct fit for your home’s usage. We created a handy guide on using an EFL to help you choose the best electricity plan.

If you are canceling service, you can compare electricity providers in Texas and the details of their energy rates on our home page, and by city and zip code below. You can also perform a Google or Bing search for an electric company near me on the internet. Transferring Your Stream Electricity Plan

It’s easy to transfer your service with Stream Energy to your new address in Texas, as long as it’s in a de-regulated zone (roughly 85% of meters are de-regulated). If you are moving from your home before your current plan expires, you don’t need to terminate your plan. Call Stream at least 30 days in advance of your move and they should transfer your plan to your new home address at no charge.

Report a Stream Energy Power Outage

Transmission and Distribution Utilities (TDUs, also called TDSPs) transmit electricity, maintain the power lines, check your meter and correct outages. Retail electricity providers such as Stream Energy do not correct power outages. When there is an electricity outage, you’ll get faster results by calling the TDU directly in your area.

To report a power outage, contact your local TDU at the following numbers:

  • Oncor: 888-313-4747
  • AEP: 866-223-8508
  • Centerpoint Energy: 800-332-7143
