Our Take on Think Energy

Think Energy rated well in our review, scoring 4.8 out of 5 stars. The provider earned high marks across all categories in our review, including a 5 out of 5 for customer satisfaction.

Think generally offers competitive rates, although its best prices come from its 12-month plans. Meanwhile, its 36 and 60-month plans tend to charge significantly higher rates, currently above 17 cents per kWh. Our research shows that early termination fees (ETFs) can be a headache for many Texans. Think’s ETF Buster plan attempts to address that by offering a credit to cover the cost of your ETF for switching to said plan. While this can be enticing, the plan has higher rates than the statewide average.

Based on our research, the Smart Thermostat plan appears to be Think Energy’s best option for predictable energy costs and competitive rates.

In our February 2025 survey of over 1,500 Texans, 100% of Think Energy respondents said they would recommend their provider to friends or family. All respondents said yes when asked if they believe they pay a fair rate. Additionally, 100% of respondents said they would recommend Think Energy to a friend.

We also asked real customers how their issues were handled when they had to contact Think Energy. Customers rated their issue resolution a 4 out of 5 stars on average.
