Revolution Electricity Plans and Rates
Revolution attempts to help Texans avoid bill surprises through straightforward, easy-to-understand electric plans with competitive prices.
They offer fixed-rate plans with a range of term lengths, from 3 to 36 months, for short and long-term price protection.
Let Freedom Ring plans
Their plan offering is called Let Freedom Ring, and its key features are:
- Fixed rates
- $0 Base Charge
- Transmission & Distribution Utility (TDU) fees
- Early Termination Fees (ETFs)
Designed to meet a range of needs, these plans come with short-term contracts, as well as extended ones for up to three years.
Time-of-use plans
They also offer time-of-use plans in the form of their Weekend Independence and Midnight Ride plans, AKA free nights plans or free weekends plans.
Their Weekend Independence plans offer free energy on weekends, while Midnight Ride plans offer free electricity at night. Like their other plans, these include fixed-rate price protection, as well as TDU fees and ETFs.
Time-of-use plans are designed to provide cheap average rates through free electricity during set time periods. If you use the brunt of your electricity during these free time periods, you may save money. That said, if you use a large amount of energy during the paid periods, you could end up with a very large bill.
Double check the plan’s EFL before enrolling to make sure the brunt of your energy consumption falls during the free time periods.
This electric company also offers a Let Freedom Ring Flex plan, for those Texans who want to avoid a contract. For the most predictable electric bills, we tend to recommend fixed-rate plans.
Requirements for Signing up
Enrolling in a Revolution Energy plan is simple and can be done online via their website or via telephone.
During enrollment, they’ll likely ask for some form of ID as a part of your account verification process. This is a standard for all light companies.
Depending on your credit score, they may also require a deposit. Looking for no-deposit lights? Check out our no deposit page to learn more.

Tips to cut your energy bill
The best way to cut your Revolution bill is to enroll in a cheap plan that meets your home’s energy needs. That said, you can perform some easy steps to lower your usage and cut your costs.
Start by investing in LED lighting. These bulbs draw less power and last longer than traditional bulbs.
Next, consider a smart thermostat. They can help you stay comfortable while reducing the amount of power your AC unit eats up.

Relocating, Changing Plans, and Cancellation Charges
Selecting the appropriate energy plan for your new Texas home is crucial, given the amount of energy providers available.
Before switching providers or transferring your current plan, be sure to review the EFL to make sure you get the best plan for your home’s energy needs.
A state-required document, the EFL has details on a plan’s rates across three usage levels, 500 kWh for apartments, 1,000 kWh for smaller homes, and 2,000 kWh for large homes. It also details a plan’s fees and charges.
For easy tips on using the EFL, refer to our Electricity Facts Label (EFL) guide.
Transferring your Revolution plan
If you’re relocating to one of Texas’ many deregulated cities, you can simply take your Revolution electric plan with you—free of charge.
For a seamless transition of your plan and uninterrupted electricity service during your relocation, inform them of your new address and your move-in date at least 30 days before your move.
How do I cancel Revolution Energy?
You can terminate your Revolution plan by contacting customer service.
Note that if you end a fixed-rate plan before the end of your contract, you’ll likely owe an Early Termination Fee (ETF). The ETF may vary depending on the plan you’re enrolled in, so be sure to find the precise ETF in your plan’s EFL.
If you’re considering discontinuing your service, you can end your current plan simply by enrolling in a new one here. Just punch in your zip code, find the cheapest plan for your needs, and enroll. Your new provider will handle the cancellation for you and start up your new plan.
